Strike with us to demand Green New Deals: local, state, and national!

Walk out of school or work, come to the rally, and/or hunger strike in solidarity.

Rally Schedule

12:00-1:00pm: Walkouts to Wayne Morse Federal Courthouse (405 E 8th Avenue, Eugene). Marches from UO, South Eugene HS, and Eugene Bus Station.

1:00-2:00pm: Youth-led, inclusive rally followed by march

2:00-2:30pm: Rally continues with public art project

2:30-3:00pm: Learn about local climate issues and ways you can make a difference

10:00am-10:00pm: 10 Years Hunger Strike (concurrent with rally)

We have 10 years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% worldwide to keep global warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius and avoid the worst. (Check out the IPCC report)

Members of Sunrise Eugene will be hunger striking from 10am to 10pm, Monday December 2 to Friday December 6. Join us on any of these days, wherever you are, in solidarity and to raise awareness.

The Green New Deal is a blueprint for tackling the two crises of climate change and skyrocketing inequality together. It’s about making sure that, in the richest country in the world, all of us are guaranteed a good, meaningful job; fresh and healthy food at our tables; and clean, safe drinking water running from our taps -- no matter what skin color you have, where you were born, or how much money you make.

Our demands:

1. Green New Deals for Eugene and Lane County, starting with Climate Action Plans that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 45% of 2018 levels by 2030.

2. A Green New Deal for the State of Oregon, starting with a commitment from Gov. Kate Brown that she will stop the Jordan Cove LNG project and create sustainable alternative jobs.

The generation in power is asleep at the wheel. On December 6th, weeks before the Democratic primaries begin, we will strike from school and work to demand that our representatives champion the Green New Deal and sign the GND pledge -- and show that we’ll vote them out if they don’t. We’re #GenGND.
