January 5, 2022The 2022 State of the City will take place virtually at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5. Mayor Lucy Vinis will deliver her State of the City speech reflecting on 2021 and looking forward to the coming year.
Mayor Vinis will present awards recognizing local organizations for the work they have done in our community, and will announce the winner of the 2022 Bold Steps Award. This year’s finalists are Summit Bank, PakTech, and Arcimoto.
The event is free and will include closed captioning.

Community members interested in attending the sessions in-person must submit a request in advance, as seating is limited due to COVID-19. If more people request to attend the meeting in-person than can be accommodated, priority will be given to individuals who have not recently attended a board meeting in-person. Face mask requirements and physical distancing protocols will be in effect.
The board will hear public testimony in-person and via Zoom from community members who sign up in advance. Up to 10 people will be scheduled to provide public comment, whether in-person or virtually, at each regular meeting. Priority will be given to residents who have not recently provided public comment in a board meeting.
Requests to attend a board meeting in-person or provide public comment must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on the Monday before the meeting.

Public input will be collected through an online survey and public forums in January. The survey is open now and the first forum will be held this week.
The school board selected Cydney Vandercar to serve as interim superintendent for the 2020–21 and 2021–22 school years. The board has now undertaken the process to select the permanent superintendent for the district starting in July 2022.
The board plans to name the district’s permanent superintendent this spring, after additional opportunities for community input.
