  • HAND: October mass meeting

    HAND: October mass meeting

    October 3, 2022

We will hold our next Mass Meeting on Monday, October 3rd from 6-7:30 at Monroe Park. This will be our last outdoor mass meeting this year as we secure an accessible indoor space for the cold and dark winter months.

At our September Mass Meeting, we were lucky to have over 40 attendees who joined in struggle, conversation and collaboration. At least 30% of our comrades at the meeting are experiencing high rents, 20% are dealing with maintenance issues and 16% living with mold issues their landleeches won’t address.

Please join us so we can build tenant power and defend our neighborhoods together! Bring a chair or something to sit on, layers to stay warm for autumn weather, something to contribute to the potluck if you are able, and a friend, coworker or neighbor! Email us with any suggestions or questions EugeneHAND@protonmail.com.

  • Oregon Wild: McKenzie River flotilla rally for our forests and climate

Oregon Wild: McKenzie River flotilla rally for our forests and climate

    October 8, 2022

Calling all old-growth forest and wildlife advocates, river lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts!

On October 8th, join Cascadia Wildlands and Oregon Wild on the McKenzie River to oppose the pending Trump-era “Flat Country” timber sale in Oregon’s Willamette National Forest. The vast majority of the proposed logging in this sale would be in mature and old-growth forests with over 1,000 acres of clear-cut style logging, even though President Biden this year ordered his administration to prioritize conserving these forests as a crucial climate protection.

We’ll gather at 11AM at Lloyd Knox Park, near Leaburg Dam (roughly a 30 minute drive from Eugene/Springfield for light refreshments, games, hear from community groups who oppose the sale, and rousing speeches from organizers who hold this forest, and the watershed it filters, in a special place in their hearts. Then, we’ll launch from the park and paddle in the river together. Post paddle, we’ll eat burritos, sign petitions, and more. Bring your own boat, or borrow one of ours! RSVP in bio!
