April 12, 2025Medicaid funds the jobs of those who care for our loved ones in hospitals, nursing homes, and in-home care. Our nation is already facing a healthcare staffing crisis – slashing the funding for nursing home workers, home care providers, and hospital workers will make this crisis worse. It also funds the jobs of public service workers who provide social services, benefits services, education services and more. Federal Medicaid dollars are critical to state budgets, funding on average nearly 30% a state's budget, and paying for the services that keep communities running like special education, K-12 services, in-home care for seniors and people with disabilities, and mental health services.
