May 28, 2025‼️🚨CALLING ALL STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS🚨‼️
Show up to rally for free speech this Wednesday May 28th at 12pm in front of Lawrence Hall!
Some UO students among us have received emails from admin threatening disciplinary action including suspension and expulsion for speaking out about the Gaza genocide. These threats are unnecessarily intrusive, a violation of student free speech, and a hindrance to campus social life.
UO admin extensively tracks and surveils student organizers, weaponizing social media presence and protest footage to aid in their repression. International and particularly undocumented students are especially at risk for repression, in addition to facing attacks by the federal government. Campus organizers have called for reasonable sanctuary campus protections for months that have still not been met with agreement - instead, we have faced increasing restrictions including limits on sound.
Students, staff and faculty need a campus that protects organizers’ right to free speech. We need a campus that is a safe space for international and undocumented students, and deserve to know that admin are committed to this effect.
This rally will highlight the ongoing hunger strike @uogazahungerstrike raising awareness about mass-starvation in Gaza and their demands. Should we have to be punished for speaking out about something everyone knows is happening?
Please add to our numbers and show up this Wednesday!Lawrence HallMay 29, 2025 (1 event)

May 31, 2025BOYCOTT AVELO AIRLINES: AVELO OUT OF EUG!
🗓️ Saturday, May 31st
⏰ 11:00am
📍 Old Federal Building, 211 E 7th Ave, Eugene, ORPSL Eugene, Indivisible Eugene-Springfield, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Eugene-Springfield, and the Refugee Sanctuary Group at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Eugene (UUCE) will host a rally and protest on Saturday, May 31st, from 11am – 1pm at the Old Federal Building at 7th Ave and Pearl St in Eugene to demand: Avelo Out of EUG!
Avelo Airlines runs regular flights between Eugene and Burbank. Over a month ago, we posted a statement on Avelo Airlines’ decision to contract with ICE to run deportation flights. The people of Eugene have been calling, emailing, and demanding action from city and airport leaders, who have pled helplessness. We have called for a boycott of Avelo Airlines as profiting from a system that destroys the lives of our immigrant neighbors is truly disgusting. Avelo is far from the only company to do so, but they are one here in our backyard, and so we have to make it hurt in the only place they’ll notice—their bottom line.
NO PROFIT FROM MASS DEPORTATION!
Thousands of people in dozens of cities around the country where Avelo operates have joined the campaign (learn more at stopavelo.org) and will be mobilizing on May 31st for a national day of action against Avelo. At the rally we will issue calls to action for a summer campaign to get Avelo Out of EUG!
Learn more and keep up to date on the local campaign by visiting bit.ly/AveloOutOfEUG
We want justice, you say how?
