SEIU 49, UFCW 555 workers authorize strike
Kaiser Permanente workers from across the country have been taking strike authorization votes over the last month. A couple weeks ago workers at in California voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. Last week Kaiser workers in Oregon and Southwest Washington also approved of a strike. Over 85,000 Kaiser workers nationwide could go on strike.
Oregon and Southwest Washington workers at Safeway, Albertsons, QFC, and Fred Meyer, who are all bargaining together and are represented by UFCW 555, finished taking strike votes last week and said yes. UFCW also released more research on the gender pay gap at Fred Meyer.
