City set to take action on 1059 Willamette property
The City of Eugene is set to take action on the future of the 1059 Willamette property at its Council work session this Wednesday at Noon. The one and only proposal currently on the table is to sell the property to deChaseMiksis/Edlen & Company development team.
A coalition of over a dozen social justice groups came out in April against the proposal, saying “Rather than help create affordable and accessible housing that Eugene so desperately needs, this development project is likely to accelerate gentrification and homelessness.”

Last week Gov. Brown revealed the changes the state will make when it hits its statewide goal of 70% of residents 18+ receiving at least there first dose, saying “Oregon will lift most state restrictions and move away from a state-led emergency COVID-19 response effort”. This includes lifting most mask requirement, with exceptions in place for medical settings and places where it is federally mandated. The state will also lift all physical distancing and capacity limit requirements. As of Friday the Oregon Health Authority stood at 66.2%.
