SEIU 503 wins new contracts, still bargaining others
SEIU 503, which represents workers all across Oregon, has been in negotiations for several big contracts this summer. SEIU 503 childcare workers settled a contract that gives them a 5% raise. SEIU state bargaining team also settled a contract with a 10 to 15% raise. Meanwhile state universities are proposing a measly 0.5% raise to SEIU members.
Classified workers at the University of Oregon are preparing for a potential strike and will be having a fundraiser Thursday at the Falling Sky on Oak Alley.
City Council waters down anti-white nationalist resolution
At last Wednesday’s Eugene City Council Work Session, Council Chris Pryor reintroduced the resolution denouncing white nationalism in hopes of getting unanimous support. Ultimately it did pass with unanimous support after many amendments from Republican Mike Clark, who wanted to let people know he is not a racist. Cut out was references about ties between our immigration policy and white nationalist groups. Councilor Betty Taylor ultimately voted for the resolution, but still appeared to have qualms with it.
Launching a new website!
