Springfield teachers rally for safe fall instruction

Heads up: This weekly update will be moving to Mondays at noon starting September 21st in order to better preview the week and give a timely update of the previous week.

Hundreds of Springfield educators and community members rallied last week to spread the message that it is too soon for schools to reopen. The rally took place as a car caravan across Main Street.

Lane County is one of the 17 counties that the state of Oregon is allowing schools to have in person instruction. While neighboring Eugene 4J school district is planning to continue distanced learning this fall, Springfield Public Schools is aiming to have K-3 students in schools.

The Springfield Education Association is continuing action with a targeted letter writing campaign. The first target is the Springfield School Board which meets September 14.
